Local libraries are buzzing with excitement as they prepare to launch this year’s highly anticipated Summer Reading Program. Beginning June 7, young readers across the community will embark on an exciting adventure with “Curious Creatures”, a program designed to spark imagination and foster a love of learning all summer long.

🐾 Program Overview and Registration

The “Curious Creatures” Summer Reading Program invites all youth ages 17 and younger to explore a world of animals and imagination from June 7 through August 31. This year’s animal-themed initiative celebrates the natural curiosity of young minds while encouraging consistent reading during the school break.

Registration is now open through Beanstack, the library’s online reading tracker. Participants can sign up through the Beanstack website or app and then visit their local library branch to pick up a free starter kit, while supplies last.

🎁 What’s in the Kit?

  • Activity log for tracking reading progress

  • Red Robin “Burgers for Books” coupon

  • Surprise goodies to make reading extra fun

Whether you’re a returning reader or a first-time participant, the program is designed to be inclusive and accessible, regardless of reading level or past library involvement.

📖 Track Reading, Earn Prizes

Through Beanstack’s easy-to-use digital platform, kids can log their reading minutes, complete challenges, and earn digital badges throughout the summer. Interactive features such as printable coloring pages, themed bookmarks, and bonus activities help keep the momentum going.

🏆 Finisher Prizes (Starting July 1):
Once participants complete their logs, they’ll get to choose from exciting prizes, including:

  • A Seattle Storm ticket certificate

  • A stadium bag

  • A water bottle

  • A tote bag

🎉 Plus, everyone who finishes will be entered into a drawing for grand prizes:

  • Kobo Clara Colour eReaders

  • Sasquatch plush toys

  • Curious Creatures Yeti tumblers

All prizes are available while supplies last and generously sponsored by the King County Library System Foundation.

🦉 Events, Languages, and Learning

This summer, libraries across the region will host dozens of themed events—from launch parties to animal-themed crafts, storytimes, and educational presentations. These activities give children a chance to learn, create, and connect with others in a fun and welcoming environment.
